Build Africa is an award winning charity with 35 years of experience working in international development. For the rural communities we work with, education and livelihoods are key priorities, and we therefore aim to improve the quality of education children receive and increase the ability of families to secure a sustainable livelihood. Our education programme supports rural Kenyan and Ugandan children throughout their entire learning journey, from pre-primary and primary education into secondary school and into the working world. Our livelihoods programme complements this by working with adults to make sure they can earn a decent living, feed their families and support their children’s education.
Trusts and Foundations has been a very successful growth area for Build Africa in recent years. The individual coming into this role, which sits within the Strategy and Impact Team, will be expected to deliver continued growth, achieving funding from a range of small, medium and larger foundations in the UK and overseas, contributing to overall organisational growth targets.
The Trusts and Foundations Officer will work within the Strategy and Impact Team to deliver income targets from trusts and foundations. The individual will be line managed by the Grants and Compliance Manager, but also work closely within the Fundraising and Communications, Finance, and overseas teams as necessary. You will increase the average size and longevity of grants received by securing repeat funding from a portfolio of existing Trusts and Foundations, reactivating lapsed donors and securing donations from new prospects.
